Curriculum Night

Curriculum Night is Monday, September 19th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Marbletown Elementary School.  Curriculum Night is an opportunity for you to meet our faculty and to learn about our programs and the curriculum your child will be learning this year.

Please note that while almost all of our events are for students, Curriculum Night is intended just for parents.  For kindergarten and 1st grade parents, the evening will begin at 6.p.m. in your child’s classroom.  For 2nd grade and 3rd grade parents, the evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the gymnasium.

Emergency childcare will be provided in the cafeteria.

Stay tuned for the Curriculum Night schedule.

Fall assessment schedule

A note from our principal, Andrew Davenport:

Marbletown Elementary School will be conducting the Student Learning Objective (SLO) pre-tests September 14th – 29th.

STAR Math & ELA testing (grades 1 – 3) will follow beginning September 30th through October 16th.   The SLO and STAR assessments are designed to tell us each student’s level of mastery as they begin the school year. Students will be assessed again later in the year in an effort to identify growth over time.

The assessments are part of the APPR program and tied to New York State regulations. To the greatest degree possible, we will work to use the data to inform our instructional practices.  Students need not worry about these assessments.  They should just give their best effort.

The STAR assessments take approximately 30+/- minutes each.  That equates to about 30 minutes of testing in week one and 30 minutes of testing in week two.  The SLO pre-assessments are created by our teachers.  They are also short in duration.  Students take four or more over the two week testing period.
